Sweet, Crunchy & Fiery Onion Bhajis, a perfect side with any Indian Dish, Perfect Dipped in my Raita Sauce and alongside my Beef Masala or Tandoori Chicken Masala.
Makes 6-8 - Approx. 123 KCal Per Bhaji
Ingredients (Makes 6-8 - Approx. 123 KCal Per Bhaji)
1 Brown onion (Finely Sliced)
1 Red Onion (Finely Sliced)
100g Gram Flour
½ Tsp Baking Powder
½ Tsp Hot Chilli Powder
½ Tsp Turmeric
½ Tsp Cumin
½ Tsp Paprika
½ Tsp Mild Curry Powder
½ Tsp Salt
100ml Cold Water
Approx. 750ml Vegetable Oil for Frying
Method
Soak the sliced onion in ice cold water for 5-10 Minutes.
Sift the Gram Flour into a Bowl and add the Baking Powder, Chilli Powder, Turmeric, Cumin, Paprika, Curry Powder, Salt & 100ml Cold Water
Combine to make a think Batter.
Drain the Onions, and add to the Batter, mix in well until everything is combined and covered in the Batter.
Heat about 5cm of oil in a deep pan, Add a tiny drip of batter. If it bubbles to the surface and starts to go golden brown, the oil is hot enough for frying.
Carefully add heaped Tablespoons of the Mixture into the Pan, cook for 3-4 minutes, then flip for another 3-4 minutes until cooked evenly and golden brown.
Remove from the Pan individually, and drain on kitchen Roll.
Serve & Enjoy
